3. Vagina Monologues
The Vagina Monologues is a play written by Eve Ensler to empower and honor women and promote awareness about violence against women and girls. What began as a one-woman Off-Broadway play in1996 expanded to a global activist movement, V-Day, which has raised over $80 million for anti-sexual assault and violence groups, from local rape crisis centers to international campaigns. More than this, the Monologues have given a voice to women who have experienced violence.
Join us for the performances of the Monologues at WashU to bear witness to stories based on true testimonies, performed and heard around the world. You don't have to identify as an activist or a feminist to create change and help create a culture that is safer for women. By listening to the Monologues, you can be a part of something real and powerful--you can support the anti-violence movement and make our culture--locally and globally--more open-minded and nonviolent.
